Buenos Aires, November 18 (NA) -- Deivi Junior Romero Ullilen, better known as "El jorobado Deivi", leader of "Los compadres", one of the most dangerous organizations in Peru, was detained in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, where he was renting a luxurious apartment. According to the official report, accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the Peruvian citizen was arrested by agents of the Federal Investigations Department (DFI) of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA), in compliance with directives issued by the Ministry of National Security. The criminal organization led by Deivi was dedicated to drug trafficking, extortion, and hitmen, for which the detainee already had an international arrest warrant with a Red Notice. He was also accused of ordering the murder of members of his own organization, businessmen, and of providing weapons and vehicles used by his accomplices to carry out the attacks. An incident that occurred in 2022 stands out among his most serious precedents, when the Public Prosecutor's Office of Peru accused him of demanding $300,000 from the family of a kidnapped university student as a condition for his release, along with other charges. Consequently, the Specialized Unit for Organized Crime (UFECO), under the charge of Dr. Santiago Marquevich, intervened the Anti-Kidnapping South Department of the PFA. Therefore, investigative tasks were deployed to establish the whereabouts of the fugitive. Discreet surveillance and covert tracking were implemented that allowed him to be identified and arrested in a public place, on Cerrito at 1100, in the City of Buenos Aires. During the procedure, cash in national and foreign currency, credit cards, a National Identity Document in his name, a Peruvian driver's license, and three SIM cards were seized, which will be subjected to expert analysis. The man was made available to the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 12, in charge of Dr. Julián Ercolini, Secretariat No. 24 of Dr. María del Pilar Cavallero, pending the corresponding extradition process.
